New Year, New Goals: Conquer the Roaring 20’s
With a new decade upon us, many are wondering how to rejuvenate their life and business. Beginning effective goal-planning now will make the next decade yours for the taking. The new Roaring 20’s is here.
Resolutions
There are naysayers and there are those who hold their resolutions as gospel. Whichever side of the coin you happen to fall on, odds are you have an opinion when it comes to New Years resolutions and goal-setting in general. While some believe that writing these lofty goals out at this time of the year is just setting yourself up for failure, this is not the case. It makes sense to set out your plans for the year at the beginning of the current one. Why? Well, for starters:
- You can see what goals you have accomplished already and which fell short. If you happened to miss anything last year, it’s a good idea to transfer them over once January rolls around. Don’t give up on them just because you missed a turn.
- A year is a long time. For the most part, they run 365 days. That’s a lot of time to get things done. If you have a clear vision for the direction you want to take from the start, who knows how much you can achieve?
- Organizing your time effectively can help create a healthy work-life balance. Having ambitious career goals is great and highly encouraged, but without a solid sense of direction, other facets of your life can be neglected. Planning early for work allows you to make room for diet and lifestyle choices.
How to Plan Your Goals
Before anything, it’s important to know what medium works best for you while goal-setting. Some people prefer traditional writing, while others would much rather create a color-coded spreadsheet. It all depends on what will be the most effective for you and your business. A well thought out list of goals is a great place to start, but you’ll only reap the benefits of success from it if you’re guaranteed to revisit it frequently.
Categorizing your goals is a great way to find your priorities. For example, you can sort them by financial results, branding, networking, etc. This allows you to break them down into smaller tasks and ease your workload. It will also create a more solidified vision for the bigger picture. The finish line seems much closer if the directions are clear.
Planning your business goals for 2020 doesn’t have to be stressful! With proper care and attention to detail, your vision for this year can manifest. If you feel a bit intimidated by the start of a decade, think of it this way: you did all of that. With the skills you’ve acquired along the way, you can do even more!
